Five things: a series of lists

Five things I used to care about but don’t so much now:

  • Gardening
  • Posting things on Facebook
  • My cute office high heeled shoe collection
  • Travel
  • Blogging

Five things I would like to start doing :

  • Learning a new instrument, like steel drums or the cello
  • Trying more new recipes
  • Learning to scuba dive
  • Learning to paint with watercolours
  • Regular Artist Dates or setting aside solo time just for me

Five things I am trying to make more important in my life:

  • Swimming
  • Meditation
  • Yoga
  • Cycling
  • Writing

Five things I need to let go of:

  • Thinking about work when I’m not at work (this includes while commuting)
  • Clothes that don’t fit and that I don’t like and that I know don’t suit me (doesn’t matter how much it cost)
  • Taking the easiest option be it in relation to food or exercise or what I’m doing on the weekend
  • Accepting something without comment because I don’t have the energy for an argument
  • Asking a question instead of saying what I want or what I believe

Five things I need to start believing:

  • I work to live; I don’t live to work
  • My life outside of work is more important
  • My health is important and I am responsible for maintaining it
  • I will finish all three of those work-in-progress novels eventually
  • Time on my own is not a luxury but a necessity
