Who or what is Tobhamhor?

Welcome to my site.

Tobhamhor is my online name. It’s where you’ll find me on instagram and twitter (although I don’t tweet very often).

It’s also the name of a small cluster of chapel ruins on the Isle of South Uist in the Outer Hebrides off the coast of Scotland. There’s a small youth hostel near there, and a beach, and some machair. It’s a place where you feel very much apart from but also very much connected to the world. I spent several weeks there one summer and it’s a place that has stayed with me.

When not finding mystical connections to remote Scottish islands, I am living in London. I was born in Australian but have lived in the UK for more than half of my life.

I love books, travel, my garden, my cat, my husband and sunshine but not necessarily in that order.

I write about travel, work, things I see, and the strange behaviour of the people around me. Sometimes I write my jumbled thoughts and philosophies on life. I hope you’ll stick around and join me on the journey.

My views are all my own. No-one is paying me for this.
